Teddy Boy...
They'll tell you that Edwardians, or “Teddy Boys” as they became known, are an English youth subculture that created a distinctive style by wearing clothes inspired by the Edwardian period that the tailors of Savile Row attempted to reintroduce after world war two...I asked Tony Mason about this and he said "I don't know Fuck all about that...I saw blokes down Whitley Bay wearing the gear and liked it...I used to get my drapes made in Newcastle by Hepworths or Burtons the tailer...they cost about £15 which was about 5 weeks wages at the time"
The term “Teddy Boy” came about as a result of a newspaper headline that shortened Edward to Teddy and subsequently to Teddy Boy. These pictures are from a series of Teddy Boy photos from photographer Ben Watts...I think they look great.
